Do you know a student who is passionate about making college more accessible for all students, and especially first-generation and low-income college-going students?
We would like to invite them to apply for a fellowship with Alabama Possible to attend the National College Access Network (NCAN) Advocacy Training and Hill Day on March 1-3 in Washington, D.C.
The student advocacy fellow will earn a $250 stipend and have their airfare, hotel, and per diem costs paid by Alabama Possible.
Your student will:
*Hear from Congressional staff working on education.
*Learn how to tell an impactful story to elected officials.
*Discuss key topics facing our field such as free college.
*Meet with their elected officials and staff during a public event and individual meetings.
The goals of the convening include:
*Expand the number of NCAN members participating in advocacy.
*Include students in the advocacy process.
*Educate new members of Congress and new staff members on college access and success policy issues.
Please share this opportunity with your students and ask them to complete a short application with their contact information and their answers to these questions:
1. Why is college affordability important to them? What do they wish others knew about the challenges and opportunities we have to make postsecondary education available to all students?
2. How will they share what they learned from the training with their peers, both on their own campus and with other AP member institutions?

Requirements:
• Students must be full-time students in good standing at an Alabama Possible member institution.
• Students should be prepared to travel on Sunday, March 1, and return home late on Wednesday, March 3.
• Attendance at the entire event is required.
The application deadline is Friday, January 24. We will select the student fellow no later than Friday, January 31.
