Alabama Possible in Collaboration with EAB’s Appily Match Launched “Alabama Direct Admission” Initiative to Remove Barriers to Postsecondary Access
Governor Kay Ivey, Secretary of Workforce Greg Reed, and College Presidents Join Press Conference on July 31 at State Capitol
Montgomery, AL — Alabama Possible, a statewide nonprofit focused on removing barriers to prosperity, officially launched the Alabama Direct Admission initiative at a press conference on Wednesday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery.
The event featured remarks from Governor Kay Ivey, Alabama Secretary of Workforce, Honorable Greg Reed, Alabama higher education and K-12 state leaders, EAB leadership, and Chandra Scott, Executive Director of Alabama Possible.
The Alabama Direct Admission initiative, powered by a new partnership between Alabama Possible and EAB’s Appily Match, will proactively admit high school seniors to participating Alabama colleges and universities based on academic eligibility—without having to apply. This groundbreaking approach simplifies the college admissions process and removes key access barriers that disproportionately affect under-resourced, first-generation, and rural students. Students can begin the Match process on August 26th at the start of their academic year and will receive their direct admission offers from participating colleges on October 6th.
“Direct admissions eliminates uncertainty and sends a clear message to Alabama students: you are college-ready and you belong,” said Chandra Scott, Executive Director of Alabama Possible. “By working with EAB’s Appily Match platform, we are bringing innovation to our state’s college access system and aligning it with workforce and economic mobility goals.”
Governor Kay Ivey added, “Alabama’s future depends on preparing our students for success after high school. The Alabama Direct Admission initiative puts opportunity within reach for every student and opens the door to college and career pathways that support our growing economy. This is a smart, student-centered solution that reflects our commitment to ensuring educational opportunities and workforce readiness. Strong students lead to a strong Alabama!”
“By integrating EAB’s Appily Match technology into the Alabama Goes to College campaign, we’re giving tens of thousands of students a clearer path to enrollment and scholarships at in-state colleges and universities they may never have discovered,” said Hope Krutz, president of EAB’s Enroll360 division. “This effort demonstrates what can happen when visionary state leadership, dedicated institutions, and mission-driven partners work together to make college more accessible and affordable.”
This initiative supports Alabama Possible’s mission to increase postsecondary enrollment, particularly among underrepresented student populations, and supports the state’s broader efforts to build a stronger talent pipeline.
The press conference is open to media and the public.
