Mother’s Day is upon us, and Alabama Possible and the Alabama Poverty Project have a special opportunity for you to honor thy mother, support the arts and help eradicate poverty in Alabama.
On Mother’s Day weekend, our friends at Muse of Fire: Shakespeare at Sloss present a spring festival performance of *romeo/juliet*, featuring an all-Birmingham area cast. One of Muse’s other great projects is Muse on Wheels, which brings Shakespeare to Birmingham’s Carver High School.
Arts education programs like Muse on Wheels have great outcomes for student achievement and success, which in turn leads to greater educational attainment, which in turn leads to less poverty.
That’s why we’re teaming up with Muse of Fire to present you with a chance to make a donation to the Alabama Poverty Project and receive tickets to Muse’s production of *romeo/juliet* Mother’s Day weekend, May 7-9, 2010. Show times are Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 2 and 7 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark is located at Twenty 32nd Street North in downtown Birmingham.
Your donation will help educate and equip Alabamians to eradicate our state’s widespread systemic poverty, and you can celebrate Mother’s Day by enjoying one of the great theater works of all time.
This special premium is available through Thursday, May 6, only for gifts at the following levels:
- $30 donation to the Alabama Poverty Project will sponsor one student ticket for Birmingham’s Carver High School, which has no (that’s $0) field trip budget this year.
- $50 donation to the Alabama Poverty Project includes one general admission ticket to the performance of your choice.
- $80 donation to the Alabama Poverty Project includes two general admission tickets to the performance of your choice
You can make a donation in your mother’s name – or the name of that special woman in your life – and we will send her a commemorative certificate announcing your gift. Pick up your tickets at will call on the day of the performance. Please give us your giftee’s home address during checkout so we can be sure to send the gift announcement!
