Yesterday was Memorial Day, the day we set aside to honor the women and men who have died for our freedom.

And today is Election Day.  What better way to honor our soldiers who died to protect our democracy that by exercising your right to vote?

I firmly believe that an active and engaged citizenry is the best anti-poverty program we have.  Together, we can hold our elected official accountable for representing our interests and governing using our values.  Whether you want to lower taxes for working families, expand access to higher education, or review Alabama’s antiquated constitution, the first step is to go to the ballot box and choose candidates who represent your values and vision.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Don’t forget to bring your id and double-check your voting location (many have changed).
