Samford Sponsoring Poverty Conference

Samford University’s Alabama Poverty Project will sponsor a statewide conference, “Confronting Poverty: Making Change II,” Sept. 15 at Judson College in Marion.
The purpose of the meeting is for participants to address issues related to poverty and develop strategies for their communities.
Session topics are women and poverty, education and poverty, constitutional re- form, economic development, church involvement in poverty issues, and how to in- crease community awareness about poverty.
The conference is open to community leaders and volunteers interested in ending poverty in Alabama. The event is cosponsored by Samford, Judson and the National Conference for Community and Justice.
Registration fee is based on ability to pay, and ranges from $10 to $30. Scholarships are available.
